Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a seasoned payment operations professional to contribute to Viasat’s commercial services growth in the U.S. and internationally. This role will reside in Denver and will report to the Director of Billing & Payments. The position will be part of a team that is responsible for developing, implementing and managing payment operations for consumer and fixed / mobile business broadband connectivity and related platform services in the U.S., Latin America and Europe. The role will be focused on expanding the company’s ability to process payment transactions and improving the payment infrastructure for customers in these markets.
  • Work cross functionally to design, develop and implement payment strategies that maximize value for Viasat and its customers across the product portfolio
  • Identify and drive payment optimization initiatives with internal and external partners
  • Develop and implement fraud and risk mitigation factors across all lines of business
  • Optimize refunds, card chargebacks and manage bad debt exposure
  • Build and maintain relationships with all business partners which include card processors, card issuers, consumer bank payment processors (Boleto) and alternative / developing payment solutions providers
  • Develop and maintain dashboards to report on key payment metrics; monitor payment KPIs to detect and escalate anomalies to appropriate stakeholders
  • Develop and implement business rules and processes around payment practices in collaboration with stakeholders; manage maintenance of and adherence to policies
  • Oversee the cash reconciliation process for multiple business units
  • Investigate and resolve payments issues and fraud claims in collaboration with third party payment providers and various internal teams


  • 5+ years’ prior experience in a payment operations role; experience must include credit/debit card, ACH (Automated Clearing House) and bank transfer payments
  • Experience managing payments in a card not present (CNP) payment or e-commerce environment
  • Payments experience with recurring billing/subscription-based businesses
  • Experience working in both merchant of record and payment facilitation business models
  • Familiarity with standard payment related compliance programs and legal/security standards such as Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCIDSS), Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti Money Laundering (AML), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), etc.
  • Expertise in dispute and chargeback management utilizing both internal and 3rd party resources
  • Experience working and negotiating with external business partners and vendors, including price negotiation and vendor/contract management
  • Significant experience in payment reconciliations involving multiple data sources
  • Experience implementing payment platforms in Latin America and/or Europe
  • Experience in hiring, managing, coaching, mentoring and building highly functional teams
  • Highly analytical, quantitative and strong problem solving skills
  • Comfortable engaging in both business and technical discussions
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Travel up to 25%


  • Telecommunications / internet service provider industry knowledge and experience
  • Expertise in implementing alternative electronic payment methods such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal
  • Experience implementing cash-based payment methods such as OXXO and Boleto
  • Experience working in cash collections for unbanked customers
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese or other western European languages
