Job Responsibilities

Are you a contracts professional craving a motivating contracts career that offers variety, comradery and opportunity in an informal environment?  Are you a self-starter and fast-learner with a curiosity for all things contracting?   If so, then you might be a great fit for our Senior Contracts Administrator position in the Government Contracts department.

As a Sr. Contracts Administrator supporting Viasat’s Secure Network Systems (SNS) business area you will be responsible for a wide range of proposals, contracts and agreements for SNS’s development program and products.  You must have experience with the FAR system including the DFARS and ideally other agency supplements.  Thorough knowledge of FAR Part 12 and FAR Part 15 is required.  While this role does require a strong emphasis on FAR based contracting a familiarity with Other Transaction Agreements, UCC Article 2 and non-disclosure agreements is also desired. 

You will utilize your strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with other Viasat departments and to build rapport with customers.  Creativity and problem-solving skills to achieve objectives and key results within broad guidelines and general supervision is a must. You must be able to demonstrate that you can effectively communicate with various levels of management on contractual matters including contractual requirements, obligations and risks.  Diplomacy in resolving contractual issues is also required. Organization, attention to detail and the focus to close actions in a dynamic environment are necessary to be successful in this position. Occasional travel to visit customers may be required.  


  • 5+ years of contract management experience in government contracting.
  • In-depth knowledge of FAR Part 12 commercial item assertions and price justification.
  • Abundance of experience with FAR Part 15 proposals and contracts.
  • Thorough understanding of  protecting intellectual property in U.S. Government prime contracts and subcontracts.
  • Ability to review contractual documentation to assess contractual risk and to subsequently communicate risk to management with proposed mitigations and alternatives.
  • Experience managing various contract types including cost reimbursable contracts.
  • Strong skills in negotiating U.S. Government and commercial terms and conditions.
  • Strong writing skills including the ability to write courteous, concise and impactful correspondence.
  • Ability to learn Viasat and SNS strategy and product offerings to better structure deals to meet company objectives.
  • U.S. Citizenship 
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field


- Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) or Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM)
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance
