Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work on mission-critical software development work. We're looking for a candidate with a strong software development background as well as the capability to lead a team of software engineers by providing technical mentorship. In this role, you will understand the technical landscape, set the direction for the team, find ways to move forward when obstacles arise.

Additionally, you will work with the management on defining product and technology roadmaps, develop infrastructure capabilities, and lead engineering teams to design and deliver highly scalable software architectures that focus on improving the overall business value of our products.

Additional core daily responsibilities include:
  • Participating in system design/definition efforts
  • Driving software architecture/design/implementation efforts
  • Participating in DevOps efforts
Requirements
  • 8+ years of industry experience in developing software and leading software teams
  • Familiarity with WiMAX, LTE, or related protocols
  • Experience with C++, Java, or any other functional language
  • Experience with database designs 
  • Experience with automation involving Golang, Python, or another scripting language
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS OR GCP 
  • In-depth understanding of RESTful web services 
  • Experience leading software development projects 
  • Team lead or demonstrable technical mentorship experience
  • Working in a fast-paced environment using Agile scrum methodologies
  • Experience with planning and tracking team activities and ability to collaborate across multiple teams
Preferences
  • Knowledge of IP networking and protocols
  • C and/or Clojure experience

At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. The starting salary for this position is $131,750 annually, but an offered salary may be higher depending on your skills, qualifications, and experience. This position may also be eligible for other cash or stock incentives, including Viasat’s Employee Stock Purchase Program, which allows Viasat employees to purchase Viasat stock at a discount.
